    For auction is an employee pass from the AGS for the year 1918. It was issued to an employee of the San Antonio & Aransas Pass Railroad, a Texas short-line carrier which was later absorbed by the Southern Pacific Railroad. The pass, which measures appx 4 x 2 1/2 inches, is printed on light-weight cardstock. It is in very good condition, even considering that it is approaching 100 years old. It has no rips or tears, and all writing/markings are from its issuance and use. It shows minimal wear.

    US states of Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee

    now an operating subsidiary of the Norfolk Southern Corporation
    , running southwest from Chattanooga, Tennessee through Birmingham, Alabama and Meridian, Mississippi to New Orleans, Louisiana. The AGS operates over 500 miles of trackage. The
    former Southern Railway Company, now part of Norfolk Southern, gained control of the AGS in 1969
    , merging into it the
    New Orleans & Northeastern Railroad
    ; these formed the
    main line of Southern from Louisiana into Georgia and Tennessee
    .
