8 Piece Set 1928 -,000 24KT Gold Certificate Commemorative Set PMG Gem UncirculatedAfter the introduction of the Gold Standard in the U.S. in 1861, the U.S. Treasury began to issue Gold Certificates backed by gold coinage, a practice that continued until 1933 federal gold recall. The Series of 1928 Gold Certificates were issued in eight denominations, ranging in value from to ,000. This set includes eight commemorative notes replicating the designs of the 1928 certificates, each struck from 100 mg of .999 fine gold.
Exquisite Certificate Reproductions
The obverses feature portraits of important figures in American history: Alexander Hamilton, Andrew Jackson, Ulysses Grant, Benjamin Franklin, William McKinley, Grover Cleveland, James Madison and Salmon P. Chase. The notes are altered from the original 1928 designs only by the addition of the inscription "100MG 24K GOLD" and the declaration that they are "NOT" legal tender.
Reverse imagery varies, depicting iconic government buildings and/or the certificate denominations, surrounded by ornately styled border designs.
Highly Graded 8-Piece Certificate Set
This complete -,000 face value 8-piece set of 1928 24KT Gold Certificate Commemorative notes was submitted to the Paper Money Guaranty Corporation (PMG) for review. Examined at 5x magnification, each of the eight certificates was found to be nearly flawless and worthy of PMG's grade of GEM Uncirculated. Each certificate is sealed in an individual protective holder with a PMG certification label.
