Description
This is an Antique 18th Century Scottish Silver Dirk with Sheath , Knife with Sheath , Chicken Foot , Hat Medallion , Family patch , and photo from the Clan Maclennan.Clan MacLennan, also known as Siol Ghillinnein, is a Highland Scottish clan which historically populated lands in the north-west of Scotland. The surname MacLennan in Scottish Gaelic is Mac Gille Fhinnein, meaning the son of the follower of St Finnan.
The dirk in sheath measures 18 inches long. It is in nice condition with the small fork insert still present ( likely had a small knife insert at one time as well ) ...The blade is still nice...Beautiful engraved silver belts / holders on the sheath...It has a large deep yellow / amber stone on the handle end that may have an internal crack as you can not feel it when you touch it...The smaller knife measures 8 1/2 inches in the sheath and has some blemishes on the blade. It has a red stone on the end...The 5 inch chicken foot has silver adornments and a champagne colored stone ...Also has the hat feather holder floral medallion and Maclennan clan patch.
One the back of the shadowbox there is an antique 6x8 inch photo of the clan member wearing the Dirk, knife, hat medallion, and chicken foot...Overall a very unique and historical group of items that certainly should end up in the hands of a McClennan if possible.
