Description
These are what we call "GO DEEP" buoys, which is actually a trade marked name. Most are made by the Go Deep company in Canada, and are actually used as lobster buoys far offshore where the currents are intense. They are hard plastic.
They are made to withstand 20 meter depth (buoys get pulled down by current or whales) without being crushed. A depth-crushed Styrofoam buoy looks like someone wrung it out, but these Go Deep buoys don't get crushed when submerged.
We haven't drilled an entry hole since we don't know what type or size of bird is right for where you live, but a hole saw is recommended. The last two pictures on this listing are drills you might consider using. No, we won't drill holes for you :--)
Putting a stick or a bolt under the hole for the bird to use as a perch would be easily done with a regular drill bit.
A few years ago, we had a lady stop by the Lobstah Lou Buoy Barn to pick up a bunch of these, that she made as Holiday gifts which were quite well received.
She borrowed the hole saw at her local library!
The grandkids have collected these for a few years, from the shore where they have become separated from the downhaul to the lobster trap, and have washed ashore.
On Sundays in the summah when we can't haul traps, we take them "buoying" and they row ashore to pick up lost buoys.
These come in various sizes and colors, and you can color them yourself if you don't like what color you get, or feel you need variety after a few years of looking at the same buoy!
Buoy length is 22 inches, diameter 7
inches not including the rope
You are buying the
ONE buoy in the first
3
pictures.
PINK.
The other pictures are some buoys we have in stock and will list.
If you like any of the ones not listed, just ask us to list it for you! You can also ask what size it is, weight, and what it will cost to ship. Most of the small ones only weigh a couple of pounds, and the largest ones only 4 pounds boxed.
These are not cutesy "birdhouses" made in China you find in a gift shop; they are real used lobster buoys that float, and mark where the lobster trap is on the bottom of the ocean.
Nice nautical decor, yah know, "coast of Maine". You can almost smell the salt ayah and ocean breeze. Been around the block some, but still nice lookin'.
Puhfect foah hanging on the fence or in a tree!
It is shown
settin' on an old wooden lobstah trap, but the trap does
not
come with it.
Anothah way of saying that is
"THE TRAP IS NOT INCLUDED!"
