Single Weave and Double Weave
We call weaving with one strand of yarn at a time "Single Weave."
We call weaving with two strands of yarn at the same time "Double Weave."
Double Weave produces a thicker, softer result than Single Weave.
Double Weave can use two different colors of yarn together, for interesting combinations.
Favorite Double-Weave Color Combinations
Some of our favorite Double-Weave color combinations:
Salt & Pepper: White-1 and Black-20 (looks like a Dalmatian)
Light Brown Fur: DryGrass-34 and DesertSand-5
Dark Brown Fur: DesertSand-5 and DarkBrown-23
Light Grey Fur: LightGrey-35 and MediumGrey-18
Dark Grey Fur: MediumGrey-18 and DarkGrey-29
Grey & Black Fur: DarkGrey-29 and Black-20
Weave Tension
Weaves that are too loose have holes, which we don't prefer.
Weaves that are too tight make the material curl and warp like potato chips.
Practice is required to find the optimal weave tension, but that's where the fun is!
Double Weave Material Estimation
We use the yarn to weave pet beds and the like.
The material estimator below is based on what we do most of the time, which can be described as a moderately tight Double Weave.

Knitting Tools for Chunky Yarn
We use "circular" bamboo, plastic and stainless steel knitting needles, Size US 11 (8mm), connected with up to 60 inches (152cm) of smooth cable.
Larger needles are commonly used with this material, up to 15-20mm.
Can be finger-knit.
Chunky Chenille Yarn
Super-Soft.
No pill or shed.
100% Polyester
3/4 Inch thick (~20mm)
Machine Wash/Dry GENTLE.
Do not bleach, iron or dry clean.
No-Shrink alternative to Merino Wool.
Knots & Irregularities
Some irregularities and "knots" are unavoidable due to the manufacturing process.
Imperfections can usually be hidden in a finished piece, or the irregular portion can be cut out and the yarn segments spliced with sewing thread.
Finishing & Splicing Thread
We use regular sewing thread of a similar color to the yarn for splicing yarn segments together and for tying off finished ends.
Sewing thread, pulled tight, readily "disappears" into the fluffy body of the yarn.
Fluffing
Material quickly resumes original shape after removing from packaging and can be wound to any shape for convenience.
Fluff can be restored faster after unpacking by placing the material in a net-type laundry bag and running it through a "Gentle" or "Fluff" dryer cycle.
"Triple-Packaging"
Yarn is NOT packaged in wound balls.
1st Package: Yarn is packaged unwound and compressed in clear zip bags. (OooF!)
2nd Package: Zip bags are placed into a tear-resistant poly mailer.
3rd Package: The first poly mailer is placed inside a second poly mailer for extra ruggedness.
Shipping
We ship (FREE!) via USPS First Class or USPS Priority Mail.
Orders weighing less than 16 ounces (1 pound) usually ship USPS First Class Mail.
Orders weighing 16 ounces (1 pound) or more usually ship USPS Priority Mail.
Beware Porch Pirates, and How to Avoid Them...
Popular "front-door" delivery is convenient, but may bring a risk of theft.
A delivery (ship-to) address that is safe and secure avoids loss and ensures best results.
Loss occurring after successful delivery, such as porch pirate theft after documented delivery by USPS, is the responsibility of the buyer.
Examples of Secure Delivery Locations
Delivery to an apartment complex office instead of delivery to an exposed apartment door, or delivery to a place of business or work address are examples of secure delivery locations. A USPS Post Office Box or a commercial mailbox service also provide secure delivery.
We use USPS exclusively for our shipments, so a USPS Post Office Box as your delivery address is a great way to ensure safe and secure delivery of our products.
