    Description

    Greenland 1945 American Issue, Progressive Die Proof by The American Bank Note Company.  Produced for the Danish Legation in New York as a sample of their product.  Greenland was running out of stamps due to German occupation of Denmark and asked ABNC to design stamps .
    Die Proof measure 73 x 89 mm and shows the proposed outer design and color for the 15 ore middle value of the "new set".  No value was assigned to this proposed design as shown by the blank value tablets.  This Die Proof is almost identical to the accepted end product but with some minor changes to the value tablet areas. Design was taken from photos provided by the Danish Legation of the King riding  his horse.
    The engraver used by ABNC was Harold Osborn.  He was the engraver for the 10 & 15, ore and 1kr, 2kr & 5 kr. values
