    Description

    Antique, heavy iron w/ gold/brass colored paint overlay, J.W. Fiske, tie ring for securing horses, animals other objects in a barn, stable or other outdoor area (photos).
    The backplate has 4 holes for securing the tie ring to a post or other wood support and measures 4 7/8" wide & 3 1/2" high. The ring itself measures 3" in diameter. The backplate is stamped "J.W. Fiske N.Y." at the top left (photos).
    The tie ring is solid, intact, sturdy & ready to be used or displayed.
    A similar, but more refined example of a tie ring, can be found in the 1987 book, "Stable & Barn Fixtures" by Glenn Opitz, which reproduces the 1910 catalog of J.W. Fiske. This tie ring, in my estimation, is older, heavier, more solid & utilitarian than the one shown in that book.
