Original Layton - Portsmouth, Ohio stamped Sheath
This is an extremely rare, Joe Holbert custom Scagel style hatchet from the well respected Ohio knife maker. It has an awesome leather and stag handle with Brass hilt. This one may have been carried but it appears unused and has not been re-sharpened. Still has original razor sharp edge.
Comes with the original Layton stamped sheath. Slight scratches and some very slight cuts on the sheath that do not affect performance.
Unfortunately Mr. Holbert passed away in 2015 and is greatly missed by the knife making community.
This is an example of his earlier work and is a real beauty. 11-1/4" overall length.
Hatchet Blade edge is 2-3/4".
Head is 3-5/8" wide x 3/8" steel stock.
