This is an original World War ll enlisted men’s wool jacket with CBI insignia and tech sergeant chevrons. The uniform belonged to a tech sergeant in the United States Army who served during the Second World War in the Pacific Theater of War. While serving in the Pacific Theater of War with the US Army he would have been engaged in operations against the Empire of Japan. Serving in the China Burma Indian Theater of operations under the command of US Army General Joseph Stilwell he would have been stationed in South East Asia. He served with the 82nd Airborne based on the novelty veterans pin on the uniform. The pin came with the uniform and I believe is not from the World War ll period but much later. The veteran likely attached this pin later in his life when attending veteran events or ceremonies while wearing this uniform. The 82nd Airborne Division despite not being well known for its actions in the Pacific saw extensive action in New Guinea, Luzon, and Manila Bay. At Manila Bay the 82nd Airborne made their famous jump on Corriedor Island in 1945 and fought off 5,000 Japanese defenders earning them the Meritorious Unit Citation. Which can be seen on his left sleeve in the form of a golden wreath patch. He received the Good Conduct medal for three years of honorable service likely at the end of the war. After the war ended he was honorably discharged at the rank of Technical Sergeant after serving 2 years overseas with the 82nd Airborne in the Pacific Theater of War. The jacket itself is an original United States World War ll enlisted men's wool dress jacket made by Banter Clothing Co. and is a size 37 dated 1943. The uniform is in amazing condition despite being 80 years old and has no holes or tears. The jacket is actually in pristine condition and almost looks brand new.As mentioned this jacket is 100% original and guaranteed authentic. This jacket has a great story of an American hero who served his country honorably during the Second World War with the 82nd Airborne in the Pacific. This would be a great gift for any history buff but a great addition to any collection with an amazing story of service during the Second World War.
