  • Condition: Very nice overall condition. The blade shows some moderate scratching and some light pitting from age, but is in pretty good shape. The original etching is a bit lost on the bottom side from age, but the top side remains pretty well defined. The guard shows some mild nicks and scratches. The cutlery handle shows some mild scratching, a dented pommel, and what looks to be some repair work near the guard (see photos). Also very possible that the cutlery handle was added to the knife, which was a common practice to "fancy" up a dull-handled knife. The included leather sheath fits very well, and shows moderate wear to the leather from age. The leather remains supple, stitching intact. Belt loop missing.

    German Silver Guard
    Fancy Hollow German Silver Cutlery Handle (not uncommon for a cutlery handle to have been added to "fancy" up a otherwise dull grip)
    Tillotson was a premiere maker, and was popular during the Mexican War and Gold Rush eras
