    Description

Tru-Vue A NIGHT AT THE COLLEGE INN #1302 Photos Stereoviews 3D Film Strip Risque
    __________________________________________________________
I have been collecting 3D media for the last 30 years and finally decided it's time to part ways with some of my favorite things. This is one of the hardest to find and most desirable Tru-Vue films ever made. In all my years of collecting, I have only found just a few copies of this reel. (Please see my other listings for the other hard to find key reels)
This is a scarce Tru-Vue Film strip titled, A NIGHT AT THE COLLEGE INN #1302 that was made in Rock Island, Illinois.
It has a copyright date of May 1946. This black and white filmstrip reel contains 14 different 3D stereo pairs or images for
viewing with a Tru-Vue viewer stereoscope (not included). The views are somewhat risque for the times and offered
something for the adults that rival company Viewmaster did not.
The reel is in it's original red & silver box and is in near mint condition, as is the box and sleeve. I
have checked the film and it is in great condition with no tears, broken cogs, or broken films. It comes with the original
inner protective sleeve. The box is as close to perfect as the films are with just minor shelf wear. If you're looking for a
great 3D experience from  your own home, then this is the set for you!
The pictures were taken at the College Inn at the Sherman Hotel in Chicago. It was "the" place to see floor shows and
celebrities in the 1940s. This film shows 3D images backstage, on stage, on the dance floor, outside, etc.
About Tru-Vue from the UK Viewmaster website:
TRU-VUE Inc., Rock Island, Illinois USA manufactured the viewers and over 400 different 3D film reels. The company
was founded in 1931 and after the 1933 "Century of Progress Exposition" in Chicago grew and flourished through the
1930's and 40's. The original viewers used 35mm filmstrips, generally containing 14 stereo views, which were pulled
through the viewer using a lever (visible at the bottom of the left-hand photograph below). In 1949 Tru-Vue sold over a
million reels of film!.  The quality of the 3D presented is generally very good, although the films need to be handled
carefully. Film-strips and viewers were made between 1933 and 1952. Ultimately the Tru-Vue company was acquired by
Sawyers View-Master in 1952, who wanted the rights to Disney licences held by the company.
