VINTAGE 18TH CENTURY WHALER'S FLENSING KNIFE.
This historic piece is
12.5"
in total with a
7" blade that is 2" wide
. It is in very good condition for its age with some tarnish on the blade and a minor crack in the wood of the handle. It is a 3/4 tang, and has a wood handle held by 2 pins or rivets. This knife is from a
naval maritime collection
,
Leith Docks, Edinburgh, Scotland,
and is believed to have been used
before
the
Edinburgh Fish & Whaling Company was
established in 1749.
