Description
This is a lot of 3 vintage ornate Victorian cast iron screen door brackets. Typically a screen door would have had 6 of these brackets, 4 corner brackets and 2 flat brackets for the cross piece between the top and bottom screens. This lot contains 2 corner brackets and 1 flat bracket. The corner brackets have a patent date on the back, but it is difficult to read. It appears to be "Pat July 27 80". These brackets are both decorative and structural - they help to reinforce the screen door. These have some rust and some light pitting. Some of the original finish on the backs of the brackets still remains where they were in contact with the door frame. On the front of the brackets, there are traces of old paint.
The measurements of the corner brackets are as follows: From the tip of one leg to the tip of the other - 5". from the tip of the corner to the tip of either leg - 4-1/2". Note the the leg tips extend further along the inside edge of the door than the cast iron that extends along the face of the door. The distance from the front surface of the door to the surface of the screen (measured along the thickness of the door), should be at least 3/4". The flat bracket is 5-1/4" from top to bottom and 3-7/8" from side to side.
Hope this all makes sense, but if it doesn't, by all means, please ask questions.
