    Vintage meat cleaver that appears to be hand-made. Nicely done, unique and very solid. Total length is 12 1/2" with a blade that is about 4- 4 3/8" tall and a cutting edge of 6 3/4". The blade is 3/8" thick on the top and it widens to a 7/16" tang. This cleaver weighs in at a beastly 2 pounds, 13 ounces and that is mostly steel. Wood handle attached with two copper rivets. The blade has 50S stamped into it, indicating that it is a high-strength, low-alloy carbon steel. Also the numerals 10 23 41 are there, possibly the date it was made. In addition, there is a pair of 2's stamped into the top of the blade. Hardwood handle is fairly comfortable in the hand. This thing would chop through bone or anything- just let the weight do the work.
