It passes a black light and is 100% cotton.  A nice text book example with a nice white back. The photo is a representation of the patch you will receive and not this exact patch. I have several of them all in the same condition and shape so there is no need to photograph each patch. Crisp example.
Brief Division History
: The 6th Infantry division was nicknamed "The Red Star Division". It trained at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. The division was assigned to defend the island of Oahu and underwent training for jungle fighting. It fought in Dutch New Guinea and engaged enemy forces in the bloody battle for Lone Tree Hill. They defeated Japanese forces after 10 days of intense fighting. Next, the division attacked the 20,000 Japanese at Sansapor and defeated them. The 6th Division took part in the invasion of the Philippines and attacked the enemy at Munoz where it destroyed over 50 Japanese tanks and artillery pieces. 5,000 enemy troops were also killed in this brutal battle. During this campaign, the 6th Infantry Division fought in over 100 days of continuous combat. After the Japanese surrendered, the 6th took over the Southern half of the U.S. zone in Korea. The 6th Infantry Division is credited with over 300 days of combat and sadly, suffered 2,370 casualties in killed and wounded. This Division saw some very intense jungle fighting in Asia during WWII.
