Possum fiber is hollow inside which gives it a thermal quality. Blending the possum fiber with luxurious cashmere and silk creates an amazing soft yarn.
This yarn is incredibly warm for being so light. Brushtail possum fiber is from a non-native mammal that has invaded New Zealand and is highly destructive to native flora and fauna populations. (Not the same as the US native marsupial!) Using it in the manufacture of yarn is unique to New Zealand and helps with environmental management of the invasive species.
Perfect for lacy shawls and delicate stitch work accessories in knit or crochet. Especially lovely for elegant fingerless gloves as they will keep the wearer's hands so warm even without the fingers! Project ideas and patterns can be found on Ravelry.com
